The term “fire-follower” describes wildflowers that sprout after wildfires. Many of their seeds only germinate when they sense smoke. “Fire Poppy” is one of them. This work draws a parallel between superblooms erupting from scorched earth and human experience of recovering after a burnout. The lack of horizon or perspective turns this scene into a daydream-like state.
